Disability Empowerment Center Information
The Disability Empowerment Center (DEC) is a 62,000 square-foot universally designed, accessible and transit-oriented non-profit resources center serving the disability community in the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area. A national model for accessible design and collaborative programming, the DEC is located in the heart of Phoenix, less than two and a half miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and situated conveniently on the Valley Metro light rail system.

The DEC is available for day and evening use and its venues provide the setting for meetings, conferences, holiday parties, weddings, and other corporate and social events.

The Nina Mason Pulliam Conference Center is a state-of-the-art video conferencing facility that features 3,034 square-feet of conference space that can be divided into two separate meetings rooms. In its entirety, the conference center can seat 110 guests and up to 150 people non-seated. Adjacent courtyards provide the perfect setting for an outdoor cocktail hour or buffet meal.

- Four large screens with projectors
- A full service catering kitchen for events
- Listening systems and descriptive video
At 526 square-feet, Classroom A can accommodate 15 individuals and is ideal for a small meeting or seminar. The room has teleconference capabilities and is fragrance-free with a dedicated HEPA filtration system for persons with multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS).
Classroom B measures 732 square-feet and can accommodate 25 persons. With teleconferencing and a fully accessible kitchen, Classroom B is perfect for a breakfast or lunch meeting.
The DEC boasts a 7,400 square-foot lighted patio that accommodates nearly 500 guests. With sweeping panoramic views of South Mountain and Tovrea Castle to the north, the patio is a breathtaking and memorable setting for weddings, cocktail receptions and other outdoor events.
The 377 square-foot computer lab features 11 computer work stations- ideal for workshops and classes for smaller groups.
